The beautiful city of El Monte is located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County and is located approximately 12 miles away from downtown Los Angeles. It lies between the interstates 605 and 10 freeway. According to the 2010 census, the city has a population of about 120,000 with the majority of the population being White. El Monte has a growing population and the city continues to improve the community and educational facilities such as active sports programs and a brand new Aquatic Center with three pools to serve the community. They make sure to make their presence known by constantly patrolling the streets of the city. The police also have a zero tolerance for driving under the influence, which is why they set up random checkpoints throughout the city.
