Suspect in El Monte Charged with Attempted Murder
Earlier this week on Tuesday, a resident of El Monte was charged with stabbing a man in the city of El Monte. El monte police do not know the motive behind the stabbing that occurred on Saturday, but the suspect is being charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect is identified as Gabriel Montoyamayorquin and is 18-years-old. El Monte Police Sargent described the stabbing as completely random. Police believe that it may have been part of an initiation ritual for a local gang. The suspect left the scene right after the stabbing and witnesses were able to describe the suspect enough to allow the police to identify him. The victim is still in the hospital recovering from the stabbing wounds and is expected to make a full recovery. The suspect was arrested later that day and is being held in the El Monte Police jail with a bail of $1,000,000. Police do not know if the suspect will be able to post bail, which means he will see a judge on Monday. However, if he does post bail, then the hearing will be postponed to February.
